Parental leave
I have 2 children under 12. Does this mean I have 240 days parental leave? If so, can you please tell me if I can take every Wednesday off for one child but concurrently take a month off. Or would I need to take Wednesdays off, then change this status to a month off, then change it back to Wednesdays off after this month
You have to see with your HR department how you can go about it.
You have 4 months of leave per child (per parent), assuming you have worked for your current employer minimum 12 months during the last 15 months and work on private sector. Note that the fourth month of leave entitels you to the parental leave allocation only if the child is born after 8/3/2012.
The parental leave can be taken in 3 different forms; full time, half time or on 1/5 (1 day off per week). You need to take the leave in 1 month packets; so 1 continuous month off full time, or 2 continuous months on half time, or 5 continuous months on 1/5. So what you propose can’t be done. However you can f.ex choose to be full time off for 4 months, and then be on 1/5 for the following 20 months.
You need to inform your employer in written min. 2 months before you’d like to start your leave. The leave can’t be denied, but the employer can postpone it based on production related reasons. Public sector rules are slightly different and you should consult your HR.
