Question regarding getting married in the US
Marriage licenses are given out by the state governments, so you need to figure out which US state you plan to get married in and check there - info should be on a website. In any case it is usually less arduous than getting married in Europe.
Yes, I'd agree with ENVIRO. Decide what state you want to get married in and contact them. Some have a "waiting period" requirement, others don't. In some states, like Nevada, you literally turn up with your passport as proof of ID and $100 and that's it.
The best thing is to get married in Belgian embassy or one of the consulates in the US. This way, everything will be recognised in Belgium.
Yeah. Lot of fun to go and get married in Vegas or on a beach in USA. Make that your main event and enjoy it. Then come home and go and do the basic version at the commune with legal papers etc. That way, IF it goes wrong one day in the future you know where you stand legally. Sadly you need to look at the statistics, but I wish you the very best.
