Google "mediahint", and use it with Firefox or Chrome. That will "fix" iPlayer.

I use filmon.com/tv for live streaming

Media Hint works fine for me too, with iPlayer. I have a problem though with the ITV equivalent as Media Hint seems to block advertising and I'm denied access.

Is this just me? I can watch ITV fine through a proxy server like HMA but am I missing out on a simpler (and cheaper) alternative?

Try myprivatenetwork.com and you pay 5£ /month per country. I get all UK stations.

You can pay for a host site like scothost they allow u to pretend to be anywhere and then you can sign in via them to I player or similar. You pay a few euros a month for this
