Open Fire

Question

What fuel is cost efficient and permitted to burn in Belgium in an open fire? I realise wooden logs are an option but they are very expensive. Does anyone know of a cheaper option than this? Coal, peat?? and where I can source some?

Many thanks in advance for any constructive response?

Luke

Depênds where you get your wood -- bought in bulk it can be a reasonable option -- eg a colleague got 50m³ at €30 per m³ -- he and his family spentg a week chopping it! Another colleague clubbed together with neighbours and bought a big load of chopped wood for €50 per m³ -- in bulk you need somewhere to store it. In our area there is no restriction -- Keep an eye out for offers at Brico -- there your coal is in sealed 10kg bags -- when they have a buy 2 get one free offer -- it is cheaper than buying from a coal merchant where you end up with a big pile of unbagged dusty coal
