Parking policy in Brussels?

Question

With my Resident’s Parking Card ... how long can i leave my card parked on my street in the same position?

The reason i ask is i am going on holidays for 10 days... and would like to know if there is a limit?

All i can see is it says:

If you are a resident of a Brussels municipality, you can request a resident’s card (or 'municipal parking permit’). This card allows you to park free of charge in your own street and also for the most part in your entire neighbourhood (or several neighbourhoods within the municipality). Each family can request one resident’s card free of charge. You will have to pay for a second card (for a second vehicle). Submit an application for a resident’s card to your municipal administration. Bring your ID card, vehicle registration and proof of insurance. In a few municipalities, the card can be renewed on the Internet.

You can leave it as long as you want provided that you are not unlucky during those 10 days and you have a neighbour moving out and consequently blocking exactly the space where you parked...

Maybe ask a friend to have a look @ your car and potential announcements on that streed during those 10 days.

So there's no time restriction?

Thank you Blus!

I believe that 24 hours is the standard limit for parking on the street anywhere in Belgium. Therefore, by placing signs at least 24 hours in advance, they can always (and sometimes do) introduce temporary parking restrictions for any manner of purposes - if they do, and your car remains parked, it will be towed away.

@Justmeself: normally, if you have your resident parking card, you can leave it there for as long as you want - provided there are no restrictions as mentioned above - during those 10 days.

One more thing: why don't you call @ the mobility service of your commune and ask directly?

I put a car in a parking bay off the side off the street to find it gone less that 48 hours later. When I queried this and the cost, I was told I could not expect to "leave" my car on the street and if it was going to be left more than 24 hours then I needed to find "somewhere" to put it. They simply put no parking signs around the car and towed it some time within 40 hours of me having left it.
