Part of Brussels' Art & History museum closed due to asbestos risk

14:38

The antiquities galleries of the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels have had to be closed to the public for an indefinite period as part of an ongoing investigation into the possible presence of asbestos in the glass wool insulation.

The presence of asbestos has not yet been confirmed at this stage. However, the museum has decided to close the affected areas as a precautionary measure, so as not to expose visitors to any potential risk associated with the presence of asbestos in the insulation material.

“We hope to obtain clarification quickly and to be able to reopen the entire wing dedicated to antiquity as soon as possible,” management said in a statement.
