'Peace march' to mark anniversary of Brussels attacks

09:58 21/03/2025

A march through Brussels called "Together for Peace" will be held on Saturday 22 March to commemorate victims of the 2016 Brussels terrorist attacks.

The organisations "We Have the Choice" and "The Constellation" will pay tribute to the victims and their loved ones and advocate for peace and dialogue in these times of global threat of war.

“Since the beginning of this year, voices have been calling for us to prepare for war and speeches have been made about hate and division,” the organisers said.

“We invite everyone who believes in the power of love, solidarity and dialogue and who chooses peace to participate.”

The event will start with a segment called "The Big Embrace", where victims of violence can share their stories with each other in an atmosphere of listening.

This will be followed by the "Walk for Peace" from Schuman to Place du Luxembourg, “where we will bring the demonstration to a musical close,” organisers added.

The commemoration and peace march will start on Saturday at around 14.00 at the Elzenhof community centre in Ixelles. From 15.45 hours, participants will walk towards the memorial to the attacks of 22 March 2016 at Schuman.

They will end at Place du Luxembourg, with a call to commit to peace and to emphasise the power of love and solidarity in a rapidly changing geopolitical context and a world in which war threatens.
