Permanent Resident Card

Question

Hi everyone,

I am a Algerian worker who has come to Belgium since 2015 to work on a permanent contract under work permit B as a consultant (Contract start date: 06/29/2015, date of first residence permit A: 08/17/2015).

I obtained my 5 work permits (the 5th is a single permit).
My employer has just applied for my 6th single permit.

Can I directly have an unlimited residence permit once the 6th occupation authorization is obtained? Or do I have to wait for the 6th residence permit A to be made to request an unlimited residence permit?

How should I proceed if it is possible to have an unlimited residence permit directly once my 6th occupation authorization is granted (expected to be obtained end of April for working period starting from June)?

Thank you in advance.
Best regards.

J

Go to your commune and ask for a permanent residency card.

I'd phone them right now - they might have a lockdown on.

Hei,

YES to your Q: Can I directly have an unlimited residence permit once the 6th occupation authorization is obtained?
Once your employer got the 6th work permit and when you apply for the residence permit at the commune the Ministry of Interior will automatically recognize your right for permanent residence granting you card B.
you indeed need to go to the commune and ask.
good luck,
D.

Yes you should be automatically getting your residence permit B. In any case if you still get a RP A then ask your commune to request a RP B. For some reason if they say no, you are now eligible to apply for a RP D which in many ways is better than a RP B. All the best.
