Places to live in Brussels near stations
I'm considering a job offer in Gent, but would prefer to live in Brussels for its international community. Commuting by train looks feasible, if I can find somewhere to live near a major Brussels station (Zuid would be best, Centraal or Noord also OK). Are there any nice, suitable areas people could recommend?
Frankly speaking, I'd rather live in Gent than anywhere near the three main stations :) Anyway, for Midi, the upper side of Forest near Altitude 100 is nice and has a direct tram connection to the station. The tram line also goes through St Gilles, so that could also be an option. For Gare Centrale, Sablon would be an obvious choice, but could be expensive. For Gare du Nord, apparently the canal de Bruxelles is booming, but that would be my very last choice. Moreover, Gare du Nord has no metro station, whereas Midi and Centrale do.
