Pokemon go on base prepay
Hi all having lots of surly teen age angst from youngest son because the new budget end smart phone doesn't want to play Pokemon go when out on base network. . Should play on it fine, we got top basic Motorola moto G4 and reviews say should work and it down load ok at home but as soon as he's out and about not functioning. Anyone else managing to play on base pay and go? I'm fed up of my phone vanishing put the door so he can catch stuff and drain the battery. So we know it works on my phone on proximus

I am with Viking and I thought they used the Base network. It works fine on my phone although the app isn't fantastic. A bit buggy and troublesome sometimes. I have it on an iPhone but I do have to turn the phone off sometimes and log back in. Has he tried removing the app from phone and reloading and turning phone off and the signing back in again?
Maybe to be sure you should put another app on his phone and try that whilst roaming. Something like the STIB one. See if that works.
I've had it working on an old Moto G with Carrefour Mobile PAYG (who use BASE, I think) so I doubt it's a hardware or provider problem. Is the phone configured for mobile data? As a test, can you browse the internet whilst not using WiFi? Without it, it won't work. And unless you have a data bundle be prepared to go through credit pretty quickly ! I agree with ANON100, too, that sometimes the app needs restarting.
My daughter has a Moto G4 and uses Mobile Vikings (on the Base network but a fair bit cheaper than Base). Pokemon Go works fine on it.
It may also be a question of the servers for the game being overloaded when your child is trying to use the app. This has been a problem for many users based on the popularity of the game. This doesn't have anything to do with the phone or provider, but rather the servers that run the game itself.
