problems with the roof off our semi-detached house

Question

We own a semi-detached house. The roof is clearly one unit covering both houses - ours and our neighbours'. Now we need to do some roofing repairs. The neighbours' house is rented out and we have no contact with the owner. What to do? We have no idea where our roof ends and the neighbours' roof begins.

You need an estimate. The person making the estimate should know which is your part which is your neighbor's. There are also common parts. Our neighbor had repairs made and we shared the costs of the common parts. Please make sure you get the owner (ask the family renting the house) involved/make him/her aware of what you're going to do. Otherwise you might end up paying for everything
