Property Hunter

Question

All,
My family and I have just moved to Brussels. We are living in a temporary flat while we look for something more long term. We are considering using an agency such as Property Hunter to help in the search. Would you have any advice for us as we consider working with an agency such as Property Hunter? Obviously, there are expenses to consider, but with a few kids in tow, it is proving difficult to do all the necessary research, planning and visits.
Thanks in advance!
Brian

Are you planning to buy or to rent?

If you are planning to rent, immoweb.be is all you need.

If you are planning to buy, based on the experience of several friends of mine, they are worth the money if you give them clear instructions on the property type and ideally on the location, and if you want to buy and move in in a relatively short period of time.

We considered using them when house hunting, but we were not in a rush and were unsure about the neighbourhood.

Latour et Petit, ave Paul Hymans, Woluwe St Lambert have rental and sales departments. They tend to specialise in the eastern part of Brussels - Woluwe St Lambert and Woluwe St. Pierre. I had a good personal experience when they found me tenants for a house I wanted to rent out. If you are looking in the south of Brussels, other agencies are more specialised. Good luck with finding your accommodation!

We used Property hunter and were very happy with them. Yes there was a cost but given the lack of response from estate agents in general it was well worth it, especially if you have set criteria and time limits.

Hi get to know where you want to live first, then look on Immoweb, drive round areas and check out several locations you can often tell from the outside how well cared for the place is. Estate agents can be good if they know what you are after, but because there are so many it's sometimes a bit hard because people may use estate agent not near the property.
Can't speak for the other service you mentioned never used them.
If you have children then be Aware of what schools are near and if an international school where buses will run too. Good luck
