Record temperatures for end of October

14:53

Belgium saw a record-breaking warm end of October, recording the hottest 25 October in the country since observations began in Uccle in 1892.

Temperatures hovered around 20°C in the Brussels region on Friday, reaching 20.4°C at the Uccle measuring station at 15.00, beating the previous daily record of 19.2°C set in 1949.

The current weather situation is due to a southerly flow that remains in place - between the low-pressure system near Cornwall and the high-pressure system over the Balkans - and is bringing with it very mild temperatures.

With still a few more days left to go in the month, it remains to be seen whether more records will be broken.

October’s hottest day on record, recorded on 29 October 2022, saw the maximum temperature reach 25.5°C in Uccle.
