Refugees downtown Brussels - situation?

Question

AIDE RÉFUGIÉS - dans le parc en face du 59 chaussée d'Anvers 1000 BXL
Some good-hearted citizens have had some bad experiences delivering goods and clothes to the "refugees" waiting to be have applications processed downtown, and camping out near the Ministr of Foreign Affairs. There is a Facebook page linked to the title above which does not give comprehensive and up-to-date information. Nor are Sites like the Red Cross and FEDASIL up to date. Before more people suffer abuse in trying to help, can anyone provide clear information and instructions?

J

I would stick to helping through something organised. The issue is too big for something uncoordinated.

And there are LOTS of Facebook groups dishing out information.

As J says, there are several Facebook groups giving out information. This one in particular is doing an excellent job of collating the latest needs from the camp and giving regular updates in English: https://www.facebook.com/groups/communitysupportforrefugeesinbelgium/

Help is definitely needed, but the co-ordinators have been overwhelmed both with donations and with people wanting to help. The situation is changing all the time, as are the camp's requirements, so the best thing you can do is keep an eye on these updates and act accordingly.

I think the truth is some people didn't actually think about what they took, this meant that the volunteers were having to sort through unusable junk like high heels and evening dresses not at all practical. We want at the weekend they didn't want our stuff at that time we bought it home will return when it's needed again. Serve the city are definitely worth keeping in touch with because they have volunteers all about.
