Registering with the Commune

Question

Hi,

I arrived in Brussels a month ago with my boyfriend from London. He was offered a job here and we decided to make the move and for me to look for a job after we arrived. (I work in Finance) When we registered at Etterbeek commune I was informed that I had to register as "searching for a job" and before I can be completely registered with the Commune I have to register with Actiris and show that for a three-month period I have actively been searching for a job. In Actiris I was informed that they cannot help me as they only work with people who speak one of the two languages of Belgium (Flemmish and French) I was therefore not allowed to register. Is there anything that I can do in regards to this? I do not want any money or help from Actiris as my boyfriend and I share our economy and I live off his income until I get my own job. All I need is to be able to complete my registration with the commune. PLEASE HELP ME! I am gradually becoming more desperate as this is now really distracting me from focusing on finding a job!
