Relocate to Germany

Question

I am an EU national and my wife is a Non-EU national. Recently I got a job-offer in Germany. Therefore I would like to know the steps to proceed with this relocation. Understand I can live in Germany upto 3 months without any formality, but what would be the case for my wife? Do I need to deregister us first at the local commune before registering there in Germany? Thank you all for any leads

Try the German embassy.

www.toytowngermany.com
is an valuable and reliable source re to all questions around relocating to Germany. Just check out - you will find answers to all your open questions (or put yourself a question).
anyway you will have to register about 8 days after your arrival (and yes, deregistering in BE helps, also taxwise).
More important, you (both) must have register for social security / health care re to 1st week working in your job. Your HR department in Germany will help you.
Housing - depends on the German region of your job offer - is a real challenge, linked with 'good' rents.

Good luck, xl

Hi, there!

http://www.info4alien.de/ is a very useful resourse if you speak German. As for your wife relocation, it is indeed better to ask German Embassy (it depends aslo on her status here in BE), she might need visa, but even if so, it will simplify the process of obtainign residency in Germany. Just bear in mind that issuing a geramn national visa might take up to 8 weeks from the date of application.
Registration in Germany is obligatory as you will not be able to do anyting there (even opening bank account).

Thank you all for the important suggestions. So far I contacted my company HR dept, and they said you can alone relocate first with a temporary arrangement, while your family stay covered in Belgium. Within 2 weeks of my arrival I need to register myself. Once I have the permanent place I can bring my family and do their registrations. But as my wife is non EU and holding 1 year dependant residence card, i have a doubt whether I can do like this. I'll consult German Embassy for further clarification.

Have consulted German Embassy, Indeed my wife needs entry visa. this also means we cannot relocate together and I relocate 1st for couple of months to make all arrangements (temporary rental, registration, bank, tax card etc).

Now my question is can i stay registered in Belgium while I do registration in Germany?
Point is, my wife(non EU national) is living on dependant visa(1 yr residence permit) in Belgium and deregistering myself from Belgian commune might impact her status (living, insurance coverage etc).

Would love to see all of your comments and feedback on this. Thanks :)
