Rent contract query

Question

I'm in the third year of a standard nine-year contract and may have to move to another country. I'm getting conflicting advice about a) how much notice I need to give my landlord and b) whether on not I'm obliged to repaint my apartment before I move out. Can anyone advise please? Thank you!

You have to give 3 months notice to your landlord and your letter has to arrive before the 1st day of the next month. If it is sent before the 1st of June in theory you could leave the apt on August 31st. but you might be a bit late
Since you are still in the third year you will have to pay one month penalty for the early termination of the rental contract. The penalty is equal to a month rent without charges.

You are not obliged to repaint the walls but in theory you should return the premises in the same condition you found them; any marks in the walls, holes for frames, scratches etc etc should be fixed by you before leaving. if not you will be billed and the expert will decide if the whole room, wall or spot need to be painted and you will be billed accordingly (sometimes not for the full price but based on the years you used the property)

(a) 3 months - it will say so in the contract.
(b) No. The paint will be good for another 6 years => that's the landlord's problem.
