Risk of strike action at Brussels Airlines from 11 December
Brussels Airlines passengers risk flight disruption as pilots threat strike action from 11 December.
The national carrier’s cockpit crew have followed cabin staff in filing a strike notice ahead of the Christmas holiday season.
Pilots are unhappy about work pressure. They told management and staff they would walk out from 11 December if problems were not sorted, according to Jolinde Defieuw of the ACV Puls union.
“The pilots intend to strike if a number of problems are not resolved,” he said. “This mainly concerns workload and lack of rest.”
Cabin crew filed an indefinite strike notice last week for action from 23 November due to deep-seated discontent, according to unions.
Brussels Airlines said it was surprised by the announcement of the strike notice but also ready for dialogue. Management and worker representatives for pilots and cabin crew are due to meet at the end of November in a bid to resolve the situation.
