Roadside cleaning projects in Belgium?

Question

Is there any sort of program in Belgium that allows volunteers to help clean up the litter around roads? I'm thinking of initiatives like you see in the US ("Adopt-A-Highway") where local organizations keep a section of road clean and in turn perhaps get a sign with their name on it.

My company is looking to start some social responsibility projects and this idea came to mind, seeing the amount of trash on the highways and other roads around its offices in Diegem.

Passive energy

Certainly not. That is the task of public authorities, whether on the local level for city streets or the regional level for cross country roads. You would probably be accused of wanting to take away the jobs of the cleaning stuff and wanting to replace their jobs by unpaid volunteers.

There are many projects like this. Unfortunately you are too late to register for the Clean Up Europe, which this year takes place on 10 May: http://www.bruxellesenvironnement.be/Templates/news.aspx?id=39386
They will clean up streets, parks, etc. all over Brussels but also in Flanders and Wallonia: http://www.ewwr.eu/lets-clean-up-europe/list-of-coordinators

Serve the City Brussels has a big volunteer day on 14 May: http://www.servethecity.be/brussels/2011/05/spring-cleaning-big-voluntee...

They also welcome contact at any time from companies interested in team building and CSR: http://www.servethecity.be/brussels/teambuilding-csr/

Thank you for your answers. Management loved Serve the City so we'll be participating in its Big Volunteer Week in June/July.
