A scooter user is in critical condition after colliding with a De Lijn bus on Place Charles Rogier in central Brussels.

The accident took place at about 12.20 on Tuesday, according to the Brussels-North police zone.

“Our teams were called to a traffic accident at Place Charles Rogier involving a scooter and a De Lijn bus,” a police spokesperson said.

“The emergency services arrived at the scene and treated the victim. The person is currently in critical condition.

"The bus driver tested negative for alcohol and is in a state of shock. A judicial perimeter was set up and traffic around Place Charles Rogier was closed off."

Elsewhere in Brussels on the same day, a child was left in critical condition after being hit by a TEC bus near Porte de Hal.

“The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition. The family is being cared for by victim support services,” said a spokesperson for the Brussels-Midi police zone.

According to the Brussels fire brigade, the child was five years old. A traffic expert went to the scene to determine the circumstances of the accident.
