Selling a flat from abroad

Question

Hi, I want to sell my flat in central Brussels. I live in England. Does anybody have any tips/advice/experience of selling while living abroad? I’m wondering whether to entrust it to an estate agent or go over to organise/host an open house day/weekend for potential buyers.

I’m not too far from London so getting over to Brussels isn’t too much of a problem but I’m limited to weekends or school hols.

Also, once a sale has been agreed, can the paperwork be done remotely or do I need to sign things in person?

Thanks in advance for any helpful thoughts folks can offer!

You have no option other than to use a notaire/notaris to undertake the legal aspects of the sale. You must have had one to buy in the first place so they might be your first port of call for advice on how the situation can be handled, if not find another one and ask them. As you must be aware the process normally demands two face-to-face meetings.
