Sending a Package To US

Hello everyone -

I need to send a relatively large package to the US, I am wondering if it is required that I buy a shipping box in b-post itself, or if I can use just a normal cardboard box that I have laying around to save a bit on money. Also, if this is possible, are there certain standards and rules that need to be followed if using my own box?
