Tax deadline extended after problems with online platform
The deadline for filing Belgian income tax returns online has been extended from 15 July to 19 July because the finance ministry website has been experiencing technical issues since this weekend, particularly the Tax-on-Web platform.
MyMinFin, the finance ministry’s online platform, has been unstable since Friday, with access to it sporadic.
These issues are linked to a technical incident that occurred on Friday and which continued to disrupt access for some users over the weekend.
“To allow people sufficient time to complete their tax returns via Tax-on-Web or to amend their simplified tax return online, the deadline has been exceptionally extended,” the finance ministry said in a statement.
“We are continuing our efforts to guarantee an accessible and reliable service and taking further measures to ensure the stability of our digital applications.”
The finance ministry website states: "We are currently experiencing disruptions to several e-services applications, making them inaccessible or preventing them from functioning optimally."
It appears that access to the website depends on the individual user or their IP address.
IT specialists have attempted to resolve the issue. “They’ve put in place a ‘workaround’ and it’s possible that this may cause instability for some users,” spokeswoman Florence Angelici told RTBF.
She has advised affected users to try again later, and said teams wee continuing to work to resolve the situation.
