Television - compatibility with Ireland

Question

I want to buy a television in Belgium for eventual use in Ireland.

Do I need to look out for any problems re compatibility with Ireland or will any television purchased in Belgium also be suitable?

Many thanks for your advice.

Practically any TV bought in Belgium in the past 10 years will work in Ireland (and the U.K.) The compatibility issues of the past were due to differences in the analogue transmission signals in different countries. Ireland switched off their analogue TV transmissions last year sometime and it is now all digital. When you move back, you'll have to get a set top box decoder, which plugs into your tv using a universal scart or other connection, which bypasses the analogue problem. see here: http://www.dcenr.gov.ie/Broadcasting/Digital+Television/
