Train-related incidents down slightly

11:22 14/08/2014

Incidents involving Belgium’s train network last year required 59,838 police and Securail (railway police) interventions. This is a slight decrease compared to 2012, when there were 62,804 police and Securail interventions recorded, reports Belga news agency based on figures from national railway company SNCB/NMBS.

The interventions were mainly related to problems with travellers without a valid ticket. Police and Securail agents were also regularly alerted to acts of vandalism, children playing on the tracks and aggression towards rail staff and train passengers.
