Travel to Scotland

Question

Hello,
I have to drive to the north of Scotland (Elgin) from Brussels. Has anyone any experience of the ferry from Amsterdam to Newcastle?
I know there is a Zeebrugge to Hull ferry but would prefer to arrive in UK already nearer to destination. Any advice, preferences etc. would be welcome. Thanks.

I regularly travel to the north of Scotland and have never found the Amsterdam to Newcastle to be 'better' than Zeebrugge to Hull. The total overall driving distances are similar, the total overall times are similar and the price is at least €50 cheaper each way going to Hull (though neither option is actually cheap!) when taking the cheapest cabin for 2.

We took the adam/ncastle ferry last year to drive up to Inverness, it was a lot less painless than expected. It's still a long drive with kids when you arrive and head back to Newcastle so we stopped a night along the way but it is doable in one day.
The ferry was a lot cheaper than we imagined it would be and it is definitely worth the first class cabins, on one of the boats you are even seperated by a locked door which is useful because it can get quite rowdy from the bars which unless you like rowdy I'd steer well clear of.

I'd gladly go again.
