turning a 1 bedroom apartment to 2 bedrooms; 50 m2

Question

Hello,
I am planning to turn my 1 bedroom apartment into 2 bedrooms. This requires :
- removing a wall
- building 2 walls
- moving the kitchen to another direction
- rearranging the windows

Can anyone help me finding companies/individuals to get quotes?

The apartment is about 20 km from Antwerp.

Thanks,
Leila

Hi,
some questions came after reading just to my mind:

Is it a flat in a multi-party building?
Is there a copropriete - do you have already the written permission of the copropriete to do your plans, foremost the rearranging the windows as this changes the look of the building?
plus
Do have already an architect / you will need first an architect for the structural planning of the new lay-out and structural proof if your wishes can come true in this building !! (e.g. where are the supporting walls, where run water / waste water / gas lines ??)
you will also construction permission from your commune re to the windows re-arrangement (if not yet done so)

I would always re-think to re-arrange the direction of a kitchen, as this involves heavy = costy re-arrangement of water / waste water supply .., to the gaines techniques / main lines ..and the older a building, the more danger involved re to unknown conditions ..plus the easier re-arrangement of electricity / 380V for an oven etc. + Certification of conformity of the electrics.

Get a professional first, if not yet done - and this would not be the handy man, carrying out the work. Good luck, xl

This is precisely what I did with my (now) lovely little flat in Sablon!
Please check with Alex he is a very talented (and reasonable) architect!

You may not even need a permit- don't be scared by what needs to be done- Alex made it go easy!

IF you change the exterior and/or the loadbearing structure of the building, you for sure will need a building permit. The remarks of XL are noteworthy.

I take on these works. I am a registered architect and work in all three Regions of Belgium (with their respective rules).
