Bpost has confirmed that it will only deliver "non-priority" mail twice a week from next year.
Registered letters, newspapers, magazines and parcels will still be delivered daily, as will letters with a more expensive "priority" stamp.
"The new system will be implemented from March 2020," said Bpost director of mail and distribution Henri de Romrée.
From January, Bpost will begin a test phase, working with several large companies such as banks and utility firms to identify which letters should be treated as "priority".
