UK Passport Renewal

Question

Anyone had experience of renewing their British passport in Durham? On the website it says minimum of 4 weeks to process but I know when the passports were processed in Paris it was much shorter (even though it also said to allow 4 weeks). Thanks very much in advance for feedback.

When we did ours they came back within 2 weeks, I think they use minimum of 4 weeks for peak times.

If you live in Belgium, you have to do it through Paris.

BUT, if you go back to the UK and do it in person, you can do it on the day at any passport office. You need to book an appointment, but the fees are still lower than doing it through Paris.

You can travel into the UK on an expired passport, but they won't let you out again until you've renewed it.

@J they changed the passport service to Durham 'round about March time,

and a pretty mess they made of it too..but there you go.

All the nos on the Paris website now direct you to the UK services.

yes sorry J but you are well out of date with your advice. I'm wondering though, do we have to renew still at an exobitant, exaggerated price or can we now pay the same as if someone from within the UK applies, but with extra postage costs?

Bugger. Thanks for the info.

You can still go back and do it in person, though UK border control will ensure it is not a pleasant experience if your passport has expired.
