Unemployed Question.
Hello Readers. I`ve lost my job some months ago and have been living off my savings ever since. Probably I will need some state financial help. I`ve paid a lot of tax over the years so I should be entitled. How much is the unemployment benefit, how should one apply? Thanks for your help. Timo.
Where you working as an independant or as an employee? Because it makes a difference? Also, I suppose you did not study in Belgium?
Go to Onem.be (Unemployment Office) and you will have details of the "chomage" of the left-hand side.

If you are a member of a union they will sort out most of this for you - You were entitled to receive chomage from the day you became unemployed. I don't know if you can have it backdated at all -- but do ask.
Yeah, union membership is the way forward on this, I'm with Luke.
