Used Car Advice

We are interested in buying a used car and would welcome advice on how the process goes in Brussels. I've heard different things-- that buying from a private seller is best, or that going to a dealership or to a garage is best for the guarantees and service. If you have experience with buying a used car in Brussels, or suggestions on the best way to go about it, I'd appreciate your feedback!
