Washing Machine won't drain - spins slowly!

Question

The mark is CANDY. -/+ 7 years old. front load...

Symptoms are: won't drain - spins slowly...

I emptied the filter trap - only a few bits & bobs. Removed them. But i still have the issue...

Sump hose i felt... nothing trapped in there...

So i suppose i need to check:

1) Is the Pump burnt out?

2) Something wrapped around the pump propellor?

Anything else worth looking at when i have the machine out/ unplugged?

Thank you

cailin

I had a similar problem with my Miele not draining.I knew there was a filter at the front which I cleaned. However what I didn't know was is that there is also a filter at the back where the water enters the machine which also needs cleaning from time to time. That was the problem actually. Worth having a look maybe.

Drop a lot of anti calc in thre as well as you may have a calced up system. The water here is very high in calcium and it can cause blockages and a strain on the components.

There are products readily available to clean out washers and dishwashers. If you live in an area where hard water is a problem, it might be worthwhile running one of them through the machine so long as it actually will run through.
A burnt out pump would obviously stop the machine emptying but It's hard to imagine that it would also slow down the spin cycle.
