Waterloo reenactment 2013

Question

I’m arranging a trip to the 2013 Waterloo battle re-enactment. I’ve seen the info on the Belgian tourist office website and on waterloo1815.be. My understanding is that for the re-enactment its free/public access and you get the tickets online if you want to go round the museums etc. as well. Can anyone who’s been confirm this? Also, it seems from the advice of the tourist office that the different elements/museums are all quite far apart and you have to take buses to get from one bit to another – has anyone done this trip with a guided/coach tour, ideally departing from Brussels? I’m travelling with an elderly relative and want to make things as easy as possible…

Many thanks in advance.

There are basically two elements to the battle of Waterloo visits.
The headquarters of Wellington which is a musem and is situated in Waterloo.

The actual battle field which is about 3 kms from Waterloo, there you may visit the visitor center , wax museum, world famous panorama and also the Lion hill.
During the re-enactment period there is usually a large crowd ,not ideal for elderly visitors.
