Week-long ceremony on Grand-Place for Brussels' university graduates
The Grand-Place in Brussels is the site of a week-long graduation ceremony for students from the capital’s various universities.
Students from Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and – for the first time this year – Haute École Francisco Ferrer, are receiving their diplomas in the square all week long, until Saturday.
This means that thousands of students will flock to the Grand-Place throughout the course of the week, receiving congratulations from Brussels mayor Philip Close.
“VUB is an Urban Engaged University and we are therefore very happy to be able to celebrate our graduates again on the Grand Place of Brussels,” said rector Jan Danckaert.
“Graduation is the culmination of a period of personal growth and intellectual development and it deserves a hearty round of applause.”
VUB students were celebrated on Wednesday, with graduates of ULB and Haute École Francisco Ferrer in the days to follow.
