Which Flemish newspaper to read

Question

I´ve been reading De Standaard for a few years now, but find it increasingly difficult to follow. Lots of articles concern ´artsy´ tv programmes/musicians etc, that I´m not interested in. I like their politics/international news coverage but half of the newspaper nowadays is filled with festival reviews and interviews with makers of (to me) unknown tv programmes. Any suggestions for a new, not-too-sensationalist Flemish newspaper? In French I read La Libre, which is ok (lots of international/national news, gardening info, less culture). I don´t need info on the stock exchange so De Tijd is out, but I do want to keep informed of current Belgian/international affairs in a serious way. I hope someone can help.

I would suggest you throw caution to the wind and try them all to find one that suits your needs - you may get some enjoyment making your own critique and coming to your own conclusion, according to your own preferences. You've already ruled 2 out - you may as well go the distance.
Alternatively, ask a few real live Flemish people - I haven't been bitten by any yet, especially not if I've shown an interest in Belgian affairs, past, present, or future.

De Morgen is quite good,( but) a lot of opinion , if you don't care . There are 2 major newspapergroups in Flanders, corelio and the pressgroup , corelio is De standaard and derivatives , the Persgroep is Het laatste nieuws , de morgen de tijd .Connected to corelio are also Gazet van Antwerpen and Het belang van Limburg , but the main quality papers are De standaard and De morgen.
Weekend editions of both are most readable , also De Tijd weekend edition is very readable , alas in July and August content is less.
