Why is getting an appointment with a dematologist such a problem?
I am curious as to whether anyone can shed some light on why getting an appointment with a dermatologist is proving to be such a problem.
Hospitals such as MCH and Delta that I have contacted are telling me that appointments are only available for after Christmas, which is a much longer lead in time than I've experienced for other medical service providers.
Has anyone any insight or - even better - recommendations for a good dermatologist who might be available in a shorter time frame?
Where are you?
I have had similar experience. My dermatologist recommends placing appointments 6 months ahead! Most doctors can deal with urgent issues and skin problems tend not to be life threatening.
Best bet is to google dermatologists in your area and call around.
You could also search for dermatologists in your area on https://www.doctoranytime.be/en/s/dermatologist
There, you can see their first available appointment and directly book online.
You can make an appointment with Dr Neven in Overijse. She's very good, and speaks perfect English. Still more than a month though!
MRK you have some good links and advice. Most general doctors are well experienced in checking for melanoma and if they have the slightest suspicion they will refer you quickly.
