The Bulletin has pairs of tickets to give away for the concert at Tour & Taxis

Belgian jazz guitarist Jeanfrançois Prins and his trio takes to the stage at Le Baixu on 28 April for an exclusive concert ‘All strings attached’, featuring The Monnaie String Quartet.

The established artist has created his own repertoire for the ensemble, reflecting the multiple aspects of his musical expression. If rooted in jazz, Prins enjoys a passion for various musical genres, from classical and pop to Brazilian music.

‘All strings attached’ includes some of his original compositions, such as the world premiere of his ‘Mindfulness Suite’, plus modern jazz standards and works by Villa Lobos, John Lennon and Hermeto Pascoal.

While Prins performs guitar, vocals and arrangements alongside Hendrik Vanattenhoven on bass and Daniel Jonkers on drums, the musicians are joined by The Monnaie String Quartet: Fasli Kamberi and Maeva Laroque (violin), Florent Brémont (viola) and Sébastien Walnier (cello).

The ensemble, in fact a sextet, features a strong percussion string element that enables Prins to create new and warm sounds that don’t distract from the powerful grooves of the original string and soul arrangements.

The concert is part of Le Baixu’s diverse and packed musical programme. The new venue (pictured above) at Tour & Taxis boasts excellent acoustics and provides a platform for quality artists from all musical genres in Brussels. Located in a cellar of the historic building, it guarantees music fans a unique and convivial experience.

Tickets: €15 (€10 students).
