Window screens?

Question

Now that the weather has turned and I want the windows in my apartment open pretty much 24/7, I'm wondering if anyone has found a solution for putting screens on windows that aren't exactly built for them. I have two large windows that consist of panes within two doors that swing inward.

So I reckon a screen would have to be custom built and fit on the outside of the window frame. Has anyone dealt with this or a similar issue and/or have someone you can recommend for the job? Without a/c, and with plenty of flying bugs already about, this is the only solution I can think of.

If you're very rich, you could have someone come and custom build something for you. Otherwise, go down to Brico where you can buy pretty much all the component parts for less than 10 Euros.

The easiest is to get the screen with double sided self adhesive tape / velco, which you cut to size. You can buy them for less than €5 a piece.

I have these in my place. They were here when we moved in 12 years ago and were obviously home made. They are still perfectly adequate.
They are made from four pieces of thin wood - maybe 3 x 2 cms - cut to the size of the INSIDE of the window frame with the window open, screwed together and with a mesh stapled on to the resulting rectangle.
As Anon says above, I'm sure you'll get all you need at Brico or any other DIY store.

Ah, great advice! Thanks to you both. I was trying to make this more complicated than it needed to be.

Tim pop into gamma bricco or blocker they sell a kit that you hang by Velcro that has strips that hang down so you can easily reach through and look out or go onto a balcony if you have one.

You could also just buy some net curtain material and stick it on with velcro around the window on the inside. I just did that on my bedroom door so that I can leave it open and get some air at night without getting eaten alive by mosquitos. I got net curtain material in Ikea and cut it to size. Cost me a couple of euro in all. I think I got quoted about 200 euro for a screen to do the same job.
