Working Incapacity For Independents
Please someone advise, if I can apply for incapacity of work, as since 24th October, I am sick and having extreem throat problem, cant swallow, not hospitalised but called SOS doctor at home and he prescribed me high dose of antibiotics but in result, I become more ill. I am working as an independent and need to know, if I can apply for incapacity of work till I get well. If so, what is the procedure?
Will appreciate your advise.
Contact (Partena/ Euromut) where you contribute to social security. They will advise you better.
Your local CPAS office will be able to advise you and possibly assist you financially, get well soon.
of course not! you are self-employed one of the disasdvantages being that if you don't work you don't earn! Even if you were so seriously ill that you landed up in hospital, you will need to jump through hoops to get any kind of support and that only if you have unaffordable insurance !! CPAS most certainly not set up to help self-employed people with a cold!
Get a gripe and maybe a job as an employee in a big company where hopefully for you after your six month trial period HR will turn a blind eye to wingers so long as you can always back up your 'sick leave' with a sick note
I was self-employed here and when ill health stopped me working I recieved great help from my local CPAS, I also paid a lot in contributions and taxes and people like me in Brussels are just narrow minded bigots, try the CPAS.
Hello Ana,
I had the same problem as your! When you are self-employed and get sick, you are entitle to receive daily incapacity benefits ( as long as your social security contributions were properly paid).
How does that work:
when you get sick, you don't receive any benefit the first month. But, from the second month to the twelve one, you receive allowance depending on your family dependents. You can contact this accounting office in Brussels, they helped me take all the necessary steps : 0483/50.30.73
