Paddington, the world-famous bear, set foot on Belgian soil to promote his latest film Paddington in Peru, which is screening in Belgium from 5 February.

The bear with a taste for adventure made a first stop at the iconic Atomium in Brussels, where he took a peek at the imposing spheres and enthusiastically posed for photos.

Later that day, the notoriously sweet-toothed bear was hosted by British ambassador to Belgium Anne Sherriff (pictured below), where he enjoyed a traditional high tea in style. Of course, he dug into his favourite marmalade sandwiches.

Paddington then met his adoring fans at the premiere of the film at Kinepolis in Heysel before experiencing the new exotic adventure together.

Said ambassador Sherriff: "Paddington Bear is beloved around the world. Written by English author Michael Bond in 1958, Paddington has gone on to feature in 29 books and three films.”

The ambassador also paid tribute to the bear’s signature trusty toggled outerwear. “His iconic duffel coat has a charming connection to Belgium, originating from the town of Duffel in Antwerp Province.”

In honour of the long-awaited release of the film, the city of Brussels has given Manneken Pis a special new costume (pictured). The emblematic statue can now be admired in Paddington's blue duffel coat and red hat.

Directed by Dougal Wilson, Paddington in Peru was filmed on location in London, Peru and Colombia. It stars Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman, Julie Walters, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin and Jim Broadbent. Both Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton return as the respective voices of Paddington and Aunt Lucy.

The highly anticipated third film brings Paddington’s story to Peru as he returns to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. With the Brown Family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and to the mountain peaks of Peru.
