Zara to open its biggest-ever store in Antwerp

08:38 08/05/2025

Spanish fashion giant Inditex plans to open the largest Zara store ever built, in a 14,500m² retail space located in Meir, the shopping district of Antwerp.

“This is perhaps the biggest deal in a long time for the entire sector,” said Nicolas Beaussillon, chief executive of Tans Urban Landmarks, the real estate company in charge of the project alongside Urbicoon.

Inditex, which owns the Zara brand, said the store would be spread over three floors.

While the figures announced are only gross measurements, including walls, they give an idea of the enormous scale of the project.

The store will be located in the developing Meir Corner, a vast real estate project at the corner of Meir and Jezusstraat, on the site of the former Proximus building.

While Zara will be the main attraction of Meir Corner, the space will also include other boutiques and a new campus for the Karel de Grote Hogeschool, which will occupy almost 30,000m².

No opening date has yet been announced.
