2,000 Red Devils fans return tickets to Belgium-Israel match
The Belgian national football team fan club, 1895, has so far received 2,000 tickets back from fans for next Tuesday's match against Israel. The fans are protesting against heightened security measures, which for the first time require an identity card and personalised ticket in order to enter the stadium.
"Fans have always been free to pass their ticket along to someone else should they not be able to attend for some reason," Michael Vandersteen of 1895 told De Standaard. "Now that's suddenly impossible, with each ticket bearing a name and national registration number, which will be checked upon entry. That's why some 2,000 tickets were returned. They will only be available for resale to people who have previously attended a Red Devils match. We expect very strict controls."
