Aspria fitness clubs bought out by David Lloyd

08:47 03/03/2026

After more than 25 years in business, the Aspria group is changing ownership via an acquisition by David Lloyd Clubs, headquartered in London.

“The combination of these two companies creates a tremendous opportunity to generate significant synergies, build a strong long-term platform and leverage our complementary strengths, all supported by a shared commitment to common values,” Aspria founder Brian Morris said in a statement.

David Lloyd Clubs describes itself as Europe’s leading premium fitness and wellness group, with 109 clubs in the United Kingdom.

The acquisition of Aspria enables the group to expand in Europe with the acquisition of Aspria’s 40 clubs located in Belgium, Germany, Spain and Italy.

Nothing should change for the 12,000 members of Aspria’s three clubs in Brussels (Royal la Rasante, Arts-Lois and Avenue Louise).

“Memberships remain valid and any changes affecting membership terms, prices or access will be communicated directly and in advance to members,” Morris wrote in a letter to members.

Morris said he would remain involved in an advisory capacity, while Shiv Patel will continue as chief executive of the group and join the executive committee of David Lloyd Clubs to ensure Aspria’s representation at group level.

The transaction is subject to the usual regulatory approvals and is expected to be finalised later this month.
