Belgium Cello Society hosts recital by Raphael Bell and Boyan Vodenitcharov on 7 October
Discover the sublime resonances of the cello at the first concert of a series by the Belgium Cello Society (BCS) in Brussels on 7 October.
The recital is performed by principal cellist of the Antwerp Symphony, Raphael Bell, who joins forces with pianist Boyan Vodenitcharov to serenade audiences with an evening of Debussy, Beethoven and Shostakovich.
On the programme: Sonata for cello and piano No 3 in A major, op 69, by Beethoven; Debussy’s sonata for cello and piano in D minor; and Shostakovich’s sonata for cello and piano in D minor, op 40.
The Belgium Cello Society (BCS), led by cellist and artistic director Han Bin Yoon, promotes and supports cello playing in Belgium. In 2017, the renowned Queen Elisabeth Competition presented the cello competition for the first time in its long history, instantly propelling the cello to the limelight in Belgium.
With the cello’s rapidly growing popularity and interest, the BCS hosts a multitude of activities all year-round, notably the biennial Brussels Cello Festival and Buchet International Cello Competition. The annual season of concerts and masterclasses continuously attract international artists and young talents to Belgium.
For autumn 2023, the BCS is organising a series of recitals hosted at ULB and Flagey. Tickets for the concert on 7 October are priced between €9 and €18.
