Belgium Cello Society presents spring concert in Brussels

The Bulletin has pairs of tickets to give away for the recital at the ULB’s Salle Dupréel

The Belgium Cello Society (BCS) showcases Queen Elisabeth Competition laureates, cellist Stéphanie Huang and pianist Keigo Mukawa, in its first recital of the spring season on 7 April.

Rising star cellist Stéphanie Huang (pictured below) has performed as a soloist with top orchestras across Europe, captivating audiences with her extraordinary artistry and deep musical expression.

The Belgian cellist was a laureate of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2022, where she also won the Canvas-Klara Prize and the Musiq3 Prize. She recently assumed the position of principal cellist of the Orchestre de Paris and started teaching at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in September 2024.

Huang is joined by Japanese-born pianist Keigo Mukawa (pictured below). A laureate of numerous competitions, Mukawa won 3rd Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2021 and 2nd Prize at the Long-Thibaud-Crespin Competition in 2019. Known for his versatile tone quality and astounding interpretive abilities, he has performed across Europe and Asia.

Their recital will feature two beloved cello sonatas paired with effervescent show pieces that highlight the full range of the cello repertoire.

Founder and artistic director of the BCS Han Bin Yoon said: “The BCS’s mission is, in part, to nurture and promote the new generation of exceptional talents and so we are delighted to present Stéphanie and Keigo for the first time this spring.

Tickets can be reserved through the BCS ticketing website or on the day of the performance thirty minutes before the concert.
