Brussels Muzieque concert to celebrate Mischa Maisky's 75th jubilee
Get ready for an evening of extraordinary musical talent as the Brussels Muzieque chamber music collective platform celebrates cello player Mischa Maisky's 75th birthday.
The one-of-a-kind concert in the heart of Brussels pays tribute to one of the most influential cellists of our time and his life dedicated to the art of music.
Born in Riga, Latvia in 1948, Maisky emigrated to Israel and later studied music in the US, first performing at the Carnegie Hall in 1973. The cellist has performed with leading musicians from around the world as well as acclaimed conductors, including Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta and Daniel Barenboim. He currently lives in Belgium.
This year marks not only Maisky’s 75th birthday, but also 50 years since he emigrated from the soviet union to embark on his award-winning and illustrious international career in the west.
This musical celebration is attended by three of his children. Lily and Sascha Maisky form the Maisky Trio along with their brother Maxim on piano.
In addition to the Maisky family, special guests and cellists from a younger generation of musicians include Marie Hallynck, Alexandre Debrus and Eduardo Tonietto. They join Maxim Mischa for some cello ensemble pieces with and without piano.
The evening's programme features works by Handel, Bach, Schubert, Brahms and Shostakovich.
