Brussels Muzieque string trio concert at the MIM on 20 April
Classical music collaborative Brussels Muzieque presents an evening of unorthodox string music in a concert by a Violins and Viola trio at the Musical Instruments Museum on 20 April.
Embark on a captivating musical journey with this unorthodox setting, defying convention with its distinctive formation of two violins and a viola.
The concert showcases the extraordinary talents of Misako Akama, concertmaster of the Belgian National Orchestra; Sarah Oates, concertmaster of Opera Ballet Amsterdam; and Monika Mlynarczyk, co-principal viola at Brussels’ Opera La Monnaie.
Audiences can revel in the distinctive sound of Martinu's Serenade No. 2 H216. Comprising three movements, this intimate exploration reveals the trio's mastery of their instruments and a deep connection forged through their unique configuration.
They can also enjoy the emotive resonance of Dvorak's Terzetto in C Op. 74, a masterpiece that not only showcases the technical prowess of the musicians, but underscores the trio's unconventional yet harmonious synergy.
The pinnacle of the performance awaits with Kodaly's Op. 12, a meticulously crafted piece for this non-traditional string trio formation.
These accomplished musicians breathe new life into the exceptional compositions, offering a fresh perspective on the rich tapestry of classical music and the limitless possibilities within a string trio.
The concert is staged aptly in the beautiful setting of the Musical Instruments Museum. The landmark Art Nouveau building in Mont des Arts hosts a world-famous collection of musical instruments.
