Classical music collaborative Brussels Muzieque presents an evening of Romanticism with music by three renowned composers from the 19th century Romantic era.

Déborah Salazar (soprano), Daniel Mourek (clarinet soloist of Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen), and Monika Dars (concert pianist), bring to life masterpieces by Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms.

Their first piece, Der Hirt auf dem Felsen by Schubert, showcases the powerful combination of soprano and clarinet, creating a rich and evocative soundscape. This beautiful lied, or song, is a perfect example of the Austrian composer’s masterful use of melody and harmony.

It’s followed by Schumann’s Drei Fantasiestücke, a duo for clarinet and piano that highlights the virtuosic abilities of both instruments. These three fantasies are full of dynamic contrasts, unexpected twists and virtuosic solos; fine examples of the German composer’s innovative and imaginative approach to music.

Frauenliebe und Leben, another piece by Schumann, is a set of lieder, or songs, that tells the story of a woman's love and life. They are beautiful, poignant and deeply emotional, revealing the soprano's vocal range and lyrical abilities.

Finally, Zwei Gesänge op. 91 by Brahms is a trio for soprano, clarinet and piano that demonstrates the German composer’s mastery of chamber music. This evocative piece is full of delicate interplay between the three instruments, creating a rich tapestry of sound.

Together, these works showcase a unique blend of instruments and the beauty of lyricism that’s guaranteed to captivate and enthral the audience. Tickets are priced at €11 to €15.
