Brussels rubbish collectors call three-day strike

09:27 17/03/2026

A strike by rubbish collectors in Brussels will affect waste collection rounds from Wednesday (18 March) to Friday (20 March).

Residents have been asked not to put their blue (plastic) or yellow (paper) waste bags out on the street during the three-day walkout.

For hygiene reasons, non-striking workers at Bruxelles-Propreté will prioritise collecting white bags (general), orange (organic) and green (garden) waste.

"We will take all necessary measures to limit the impact of this action on the public," said Bruxelles-Propreté.

The collection of bulky items and waste from businesses will also be disrupted by the strike and Recypark recycling facilities will be closed.
