Brussels' third La Mer du Nord set to open next week
La Mer du Nord's plans to open a third restaurant at the foot of the Poelaert-Marolles Lift are finally coming to fruition. The Brussels seafood bar had hoped to open earlier this year, but was delayed due to a dispute over the rent. The grand opening is now set for 23 August, owner Véronique Aelbrecht confirmed to Bruzz.
The renewed pavilion at the weekend received a shiny new sign above its facade: Noord Zee - Mer du Nord, so it seems the restaurant is in fact opening soon. Bruzz previously wrote about a dispute over the rental agreement between La Mer du Nord and Brussels public transport company STIB, which owns the building,. "And there was another problem," says Aelbrecht. "There was work needed on the drains." The issues have now been sorted, and the signing of the lease is in the final stages.
"It will look beautiful, fully in the spirit of La Mer du Nord,” franchisee Aelbers told Bruzz. "This is a very nice location, very open. It is kind of like an aquarium, and we'll have all the windows open. It will be fun.”
